AG hospital question about a new head...

i mentioned a few days ago that my niece's AGOT lost her arm in a terrible charades accident. she has been shipped off to the hospital. my sister asked that they replace the arm. here's my question - her hair is not so great - and my mom offered to pay for a new head - but my sister declined.

now we're wondering, can she call and ask that the head be replaced after the doll has shipped or is it too late? also wondering if they would replace the head with a kirsten head? do they do switches like that i wonder?

i have an actual kirsten doll that i could give her, and she THINKS that her doll is Kirsten, she hasn't figured out that Kirsten has blue eyes - but we are worried that if she got an actual Kirsten, it would be different from her actual doll.

oh my, such important issues to a 6yr old!

any thoughts from you guys?

I don't think that they will replace it with another doll's head. I'm almost positive it must be the same exchange. I do think that you can call and ask for a head replacement in addition to a new limb even if she's already been shipped. Children are particular about their dolls and rarely want them changed. Maybe the "Downy Dunk" would help her hair.

that's what i thought. she had the downy dunk, but she has some strange short hairs on top of her head - when she arrived at my house (she was an ebay $37 doll!), she had that short hair in a tight ponytail sticking straight up! i tried the downey dunk, but it didn't really help. i don't know what that "tuft" of hair is on top of her head unless it was maybe cut..

do you know if they replace wigs only? or is it the whole head?

They only replace heads--they do not rewig dolls. Given the amount of time it would take to rewig the dolls, they would probably have to charge four or five times what they charge for re-heading a doll.

Not that rewigging a doll is particularly difficult, as a number of the members here will attest from their personal experience. It is just time consuming and the AG Hospital calculates the labor cost in with the materials cost for their services.

If you want to keep your doll's current head, you may want to consider rewigging her yourself.
